Q:  How is the Carpenters' District Council of Kansas City and Vicinity addressing the issue?

     We intend to do everything we can to bring "1099" misclassification abuse, and other issues to the public's attention; by meeting with contractors, owners and developers; urging local, state and federal elected officials to pass "responsible contractor" laws; urging every citizen to write or call their elected officials and ask them to address this issue by passing those same "responsible contractor" laws; advertising through newspapers and billboards; by building coalitions with community and immigrant rights organizations; and by informing the public where these abuses are occurring in our communities.
