A rat is a contractor that does not pay its employee’s area standard wages.

Shamrock Development, Inc.  has hired Lund-Ross Constructors, inc. to renovate the Paxton. Lund-Ross Constructors, Inc. hired Interior Construction Inc. as the interior contractor. We do not have a dispute with Lund-Ross Constructors, Inc.; we do however have a dispute with Interior Construction, Inc. concerning paying substandard wages to the carpenter employees.

Carpenters Local 444 objects to substandard employers like Interior Construction, Inc. working in the community. They do not pay standard wages to its entire carpenter craft employees, including full payments for family health care and retirement. In our opinion, the way Interior Construction, Inc. treats their employees’ helps degrade our community. We believe, the community ends up paying the tab for employee health care, and low wages tend to lower general community standards. Carpenters Local 444 believe that every member of our community has an obligation to see that contractors, who perform work on buildings they construct, own, occupy, or lease, meet labor standards that protect our communities standard of living.
