Shame on Kohls!

Kohls Department Stores is building a new store at 95th & I-35.  Kohls has hired Crane Construction as its general contractor.  Crane Construction has, in turn, hired Enterprise Interiors to frame and hang the drywall in the new store. Enterprise Interiors, for its part, pays its workers well below our area standard and provides little if anything in the way of health or retirement benefits.

Why does Kohls want to associate with such cut-rate, substandard operations as Crane Construction and Enterprise Interiors? We don’t know.  What we do know is that the earning power of working people in our community is the bedrock upon which our economy is based.

When Kohls undermines that bedrock through the selection of UNFAIR, SUBSTANDARD CONTRACTORS, it exists as a PARASITE and not a contributor to our community.

Kohls relies on our community to support its stores by purchasing its wares.  You would think Kohls would want to do business with contractors who provide their workers a fair wage, health and retirement benefits, to support a prosperous stable economy.

Enough is Enough!  Call Dan Booher, Senior Vice President of Store Planning, with Kohls Department Stores at (262) 703-7000 or send him an e-mail Dan.Booher@kohls.com  and tell him our community deserves better!  Let’s send a clear message to all corporations like the Kohls Department Stores: “We won’t support your stores if you support contractors who cheat workers of fair wages and benefits, and cheat our local economy.”  Take your hard earned dollars and send that message by shopping somewhere else!
